My Favorite Toys
Slinky
"A spring, a spring, a wonderful thing. Everyone knows it's Slinky"
I spent many hours playing with my Slinky. I used to get it so tangled up
that my Mother finally threw it away when she got tired of trying to fix it.
I just bought a new Slinky and I am amazed at how the sound of the
metal coils still facinates me.
Silly Putty
There was always something magic about Silly Putty. My friends and
I used to see who could make the funniest pictures from the same comic
strips. We also used to bounce it the kitchen to watch in bounce off both
the floor and the ceiling. They now have Neon, and Color Changing Silly Putty
but my memories are of the original pink blob.
Yo-Yo
It's funny. I never have been able to do all those neat tricks with
the yo-yo. My best trick is getting it to come back up when I drop it. I
was so desperate once that I bought a Yo-Ball. (You remember them. They were
the special yo-yos that had a device in them that MADE them come back up.)
I have to confess that even with the Yo-Ball, I still couldn't do tricks.
Etch-a-Sketch
I never actually owned an Etch-a-Sketch, but I always used to play
with my friend's. I heard that there is actually a contest for doing
portraits on the thing. I consider making a lopsided circle a personal
accomplishment.
